Akın, graduated from Istanbul Technical University Department of Architecture in 2001. She turned her focus on academic research and education since 2010. In 2016 she received her PhD with her dissertation titled “Architecture and Structure” from İstanbul Technical University and since 2017 she is working as an assistant professor in MEF University. Among her research areas are; architectural practices and criticism, architectural designs relation to structural concept and the built objects relation to design-representation-construction processes.
